HIGUERUELA AND THE WIND TURBINES. (It's very interesting)

Spain is one of the biggest producers of wind energy in the world, and the Spanish government has got plans to use more wind power in the future. If they are successful, 15% of the country's energy will come from wind power by 2010.
These plans are changing the countryside. If you go to Higueruela in La Mancha, you won't be able to see many trees, but you will see a lot of wind turbines. In fact, there are 244 modern, white wind turbines, and each one is over 45 metres high. Some people don't like the wind turbines and they think the countryside would prefer to have them. But the residents of Higueruela would prefer to have them. When the energy company bought the land for the wind turbines, the residents were paid a lot of money. If Don Quixote was here today, he would definitely be surprised!!
